Beyond the 150th Anniversary
~A new history for TUAT that shines with people~

TUAT was founded in 1874 (Meiji 7).
Its roots lie in the Agricultural Training School and Sericulture Experiment Section, which were established at the Naito-Shinjuku Branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs' Industrial Promotion Board (now the site of Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden) at the time, carrying great expectations from the nation.
The Agricultural Training School, which worked on improving varieties of vegetables and fruits and establishing cultivation methods, is now the Faculty of Agriculture, and the Sericulture Experiment Section, which conducted testing and research on sericulture and silk reeling, which were important industries at the time, is now the Faculty of Engineering.

In 2024, TUAT will celebrate its 150th anniversary.

As the university song says, for the past 150 years, the predecessors of TUAT have always sought to create history and lead the times by pursuing higher quality education and research.

Going forward, TUAT will continue to uphold its basic philosophy of "MORE SENSE: Mission Oriented Research and Education giving Synergy in Endeavors toward a Sustainable Earth" and will continue to proactively tackle the challenges facing humanity by conducting cutting-edge research that combines agriculture and engineering and nurturing talented people with a broad, interdisciplinary perspective who can play an active role on the world's front lines.
